Highlights of the Event

RITUPARNA SENGUPTA
   – The National Award winning Iconic Indian Actress

One of the most successful actresses of Bengali cinema from the late 1990s until now, Rituparna Sengupta, will be present in “Agomoni – The Awakening” event on September 13th as the showstopper for “Threads of Humanity” fashion walk organized by Dishari Boston.

Mahishasurmardini
   – The Ultimate Symbol of Women Power

Thousands of years ago, when the world was threatened by a demon (Mahishasur) and all the gods became helpless to stop him, they created “Mahishasurmordini” to save the world. Since then, women is at the core to maintain the balance of power in our society and whenever, the respect for women is challenged, world witnessed destruction (stories of Ramayan & Mahabharat). To remind this eternal truth to the current generation and inspire our next generation, Dishari will collaborate with the eminent dancer/actress from Kolkata, Mrs. Devlina Kumar to recreate this magical story on stage. With the largest dance team (50+) Boston Indian community has ever seen on stage and use of state-of-the-art technologies, this segment will be an immersive and memorable experience.

One World
  – The Threads of Humanity

This will be a one-of-kind ramp walk upholding fashion for cause, celebrating diversity of colors, races,
religions, gender choice, and disabilities. The message will be clear – Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Gupi Gayne Bagha Bayne (By Satyajit Roy)
   – To Instill World Peace

Gupi Gayne and Bagha Bayne are two musical kids-friendly characters made famous by the Oscarwinning Bengali Film Director Satyajit Ray. In his movie “Hirak Rajar Deshe”, Ray portray an interesting story of conflict between two kingdoms and how Gupi & Bagha was able to prevent the war with their magical power of music. In the modern world with rising conflicts between countries and religions, Dishari kids will enact a key portion of this story on 13th September to tell the world that they choose love and not war.

“Global Bengal Icon” Award
  – An Evening with Parambrata

Every year, Dishari will recognize and felicitate a “Global Bengal Icon” for their contributions in taking the performing arts of Bengal to world. Dishari is proud to nominate Mr. Parambrata Chattopdhyay for the “Global Bengal Icon 2025” for his outstanding contribution and accomplishments in taking Bengali cinema to the world over past decades.
